Okay so I finally got a dream code for my doofy little island. It’s not fancy, very natural (even compared to some of the other natural islands I’ve seen) and is intentionally a little weird (again, as an homage to the previous games); houses are in odd, inconvenient places, I have a penguin villager who walks around sometimes in a towel because she wanted me to get her a towel for some reason??, and I didn’t use a ton of the features impacting terrain. I also have maybe one bridge and one incline? BUT we do have:
A cool gyroid forest that leads you to a wind phone
A hiking trail with a li'l Zelda tribute (an ocarina and a sword) and a corpse flower because I was able to buy a corpse flower one time
A place to watch movies in the woods
A little wedding ceremony where if you press the action button on this confetti machine it’ll shoot confetti out and it’s cute
Apples leading up to a surfboard + Pikachu sand art (iykyk for those of us who played Pokemon Snap! This whole thing is a basically an N64 tribute. Adding Mario stuff later)
A lot of dumb heart
Oh, and Godzilla

SEA LEGS is a MG graphic novel memoir and a collaboration with one of my oldest pals, Jules Bakes. We met when we were tiny tweens, roleplaying magical creatures on an equally tiny online forum (so cool), and I soon found out the reason her internet connection wasn’t as reliable as my sturdy dial-up: she lived on a boat. That her dad built by hand.
Living on a sailboat is REALLY COOL… the wide, open Caribbean Sea… your adorable boat cat… you don’t have to go to school…! And it’s also lonely as heck.
Jules is an amazingly hilarious writer, which makes the hard scenes in SEA LEGS hit all that much harder. We’ve been developing this book together for the last ???4??? (oh god) years and it’s finally, finally about to be here. Thank you so much to our incredible editor Maya Marlette, our designer Carina Taylor, and our agent Charlie Olsen!
